Last week,
the news broke that Gal Gadot was cast as Wonder Woman in the upcoming
‘Superman and Batman’ film! I sincerely
wish Ms. Gadot and the crew on the film all the best as they make the movie.
After Gal
Gadot’s casting was announced a bunch of negative comments have been made about
her. To paraphrase: “she does not have
the right figure for Wonder Woman” or “She’s no Lynda Carter”. Of course, Gal Gadot is going to be compared
to Lynda Carter. Indeed Carter’s performance
on the 1970s ‘Wonder Woman’ series is legendary. But I can’t understand declaring a judgment
about Gal Gadot without even seeing promotional materials/ the ‘Superman and
Batman’ film itself. Additionally, being
negative about a person’s body type is just not classy at all.
I look
forward to seeing what Gal brings to the role of Wonder Woman. Ultimately, upon viewing the movie I hope I
can say, “Great Hera… that was so great!”
I hope Gal Gadot’s performance will inspire a series of ‘Wonder Woman’
films! It is about time.
